Adra
Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country. Adra is a municipality of Almeria province, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. Almeria is a province of southern Spain, in the eastern part of the autonomous community of Andalusia. It was founded by the Phoenicians as a trading colony under the name of Abdera. Abderitano as Adra is nicknamed has an area of 90 square kilometers which is populated by 23,195, as of 2005, and having a population density of 257.7 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Adra, is the western-most coastal town in the province of Almeria, it is surrounded by magnificent beaches and is rich in history, having been founded in the 8th century. Adra remains a working fishing harbour and early rising visitors enjoy the daily dawn fish auctions and dining out at the many tempting seafood restaurants. The clean, neat town centre with its many squares and parks is split by the attractive Paseo de Natalio Rivas promenade. Sights to see include the Church of the Immaculate Conception, the Partridge Tower, a historic restored mill and the town's interesting museum. Adra boasts the Poniente blue flag beach among its stretches of beautiful sandy shore. Adra enjoys a very good reputation amongst worldwide travelers and hence is one of the most visited places in Spain.
