Los Realejos

Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country.

Los Realejos is one of the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destinations that is located on the north side of the island of Tenerife which forms part of the Canary Islands and a part of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Los Realejos possesses a total area of 57.08 square kilometer area. It has the westernmost terminus of the TF2 superhighway and is linked with the old highway linking Icod de los Vinos and the capital and north of the TF1 superhighway.

Los Realejos is split into two distinct zones including Realejo Alto which means as high or upper Realejo and Realejo Bajo which means lower Realejo. Both the zones are geographically discrete by a large deep water gully and historically discrete due to the Spanish conquest of the island. Also, both the zones has its own Baroque church that were built shortly after the success of the Spanish conquest.

The Los Realejos area governed by the local council also includes other smaller villages such as Palo Blanco, Cruz Santa, Mocan, Icod de Alto, Tigaiga and others. Although recently, as a result of population growth and construction, these have merged into what seems to be one town.

Los Realejos, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times.
