Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country. Lucena is one of the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destinations that is located in southern Spain, in the province of Cordoba, 70 kilometer southeast of Cordoba, 95 kilometer north of Malaga, 150 kilometer east of Seville, 110 kilometer west of Granada, and 100 kilometer southwest of Jaen. It is also magnificently situated, and surrounded by strong walls and wide moats. In early times it was inhabited almost exclusively by Jews who had arrived together with its founders. According to an Arabic writer, initially, the Jews of Lucena who carried on extensive trade and industries were richer than those of any other city. They enjoyed the same freedom as their coreligionists in the large Mohammedan cities. Several important Jewish scholars also lived in Lucena. Isaac Alfasi who founded a large Talmudic academy in Lucena, Isaac ibn Ghayyat, Isaac ibn Albalia, and Joseph ibn Migash were some prominent scholars. The parish church that dates from the ending of the 15th century, Our Lady of Araceli which is an image brought from Rome in the 16th century are some monuments in Lucena.
