Manises
Spain, officially the Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country that is located in Southern Europe, politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest of the three sovereign nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital and largest city is Madrid. Manises is a municipality of L´Horta, it extends to the right margin of the Turia and is rough in the western sector by the first mounts that dominate flat the alluvial one of the Turia. Agriculture is predominantly of dry land carob trees, oliveras and small sectors of vine and almonds tree. The irrigated land takes advantage of the water the Turia through the drain of Manises. Mainly the economic activity in the city is the industry, centered in the ceramics that has an important tradition from the average age, which resurges with force in second half of century XIX. In 1917, the School of Ceramics was created that included the study of this activity in its diverse variants like artistic ceramics, porcelain and tiles. The industrial sectors concentrate to the east and north of the urban nucleus, near the station of the railroad from Valencia to Liria. The parochial church was built between 1734 and 1751. The greater altar had belonged to the convent of the Favor of Valencia. Old Islamic farmhouse was donated in 1238 by Jaime I to Artal of Moon and in 1307 it was sold to Pere Boil and it became center of the barony of Manises. In 1924 it received the title of city. In addition to diverse findings of Roman time, within the term there is a contruído aqueduct then name dels Arquets. In the western end of the term, in the shore of the Turia, there is a station water-treatment plant of the water of Valencia. Although probably Manises was inhabited from the times but remote, the only thing that we know is that the Romans constructed an important work to take water to Valencia. Later the Arabs came, being these the creators of our city and the original ones of their traditions. Manises is one of the pre-eminent, historical and potential tourism destinations that is located in the Spain.
