Marin
Spain, officially the Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country that is located in Southern Europe, politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest of the three sovereign nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital and largest city is Madrid. Marin is a municipality in the province of Pontevedra, in the Independent Community of Galicia, Spain, located in the southern border of Ria de Pontevedra, in the region of the Morrazo. Marin has the population of 26,103 inhabitants. The municipality belongs to the Diocese of Santiago de Compostela and is divided in seven parishes Ardan, Or Field, Marin, Mogor, San Julian, San Tome' de Pineiro and Seixo. Its mayor is at the present time Antonio Santiago, of the Pseo. The fishing is its main economic activity. Its fishing port is one of most important at national level, with traffic of 2 million tons in 2002. The present president is Juan Carlos Suris Regueiro. It lodges a Military, unique Naval school in Spain, transferred from San Fernando Cadiz in 1943. The King of Spain, or in its defect Prince de Asturias, visits the School every Day of the Carmen to preside over the act of Jura de Bandera and Entrega of Offices. Their beaches receive every year thousands of visitors, being main attractive the tourist one of the municipality. The main sandy grounds are Portocelo, Mogor, Aguete, Loira, Or Santo and Lapaman. In 2006, the beaches of Portocelo, Mogor, Aguete and Loira count on Blue Flag. The petroglifos located next to the beach of Mogor date from year 300 AD, Anno Domini and it is related to them to celtas. Marin is one of Spain's most popular destinations and is well known for the quantity of cultural related attractions and monuments that the city has embraced.
