Martos




Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country.
 
Martos is one of the pre-eminent, historical and potential tourism destinations. Martos is located in the Jaen province and autonomous community of Andalusia in south-central Spain. According to the 2002 census, the population o Martos was 22,688 making it the fifth biggest city in the province. Located on a western peak of the Sierra Jabalcuz mountain range, Martos is linked with the Roman settlement of Colonia Augusta Gemella.
 
Initially, Martos gained prominence for its historical events during the reign of Moors under various Islamic states for over 500 years since the eighth century. In 1225, King Ferdinand III of Castile and Leon captured the city from the Moors as a part of the reconquista, and integrated it into his kingdom.
 
Martos is also said to be as the city of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. This is evident from the archaeological sites found throughout the city. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and pursue enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
