Aranjuez




Spain, officially the Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country that is located in Southern Europe, politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest of the three sovereign nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital and largest city is Madrid.
 
Aranjuez is a town in the southern part of Autonomous Community of Madrid in central Spain. It is the southernmost city of Madrid which is situated 48 kilometers from it. The rivers, Tagus and Jarama are located at the confluence of the town. The municipal area of Aranjuez has a population of 48,139 people as on February 2005 with 23,545 males and 24,594 females. The important roads with dual carriageway are the A4 from Madrid to Cadiz where toll motorway is R4, N400. Aranjuez is served by commuter trains to Atocha station in Madrid which are long distance trains to the East and South of Spain. 
 
Aranjuez is known for the Palacio Real de Aranjuez, a royal residence, and its vast gardens. The strawberries of Aranjuez are also famous throughout Spain. They are shipped by the carload to Madrid every day during their season. It has become well known through the Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo and after his death, he was buried in the town's cemetery.

Aranjuez enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers and is one of the most visited places. It can also be described as the town of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
