Arrasate o Mondragon
Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country. Arrasate o Mondragon is a town and municipality in Gipuzkoa province, Basque Country, Spain. It is known mainly as the place of origin of the Mondragon Cooperative Corporation, MCC, and the world's largest worker cooperative, whose foundation was inspired in the 1940s by Father Jose Maria Arizmendiarrieta. In 2002 the MCC contributed 3.7 percent towards the total GDP, the Gross Domestic Product of the Basque Country and 7.6 percent to the industrial GDP. There are about 25000 inhabitants in the town. The spa at Santa Agueda, which is now a psychiatric hospital, was the location of the 1897 murder of Spanish politician Antonio Canovas del Castillo by Michele Angiolillo. A town known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Arrasate o Mondragon is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
