Mijas

Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country.

Mijas is a town and municipality in the province of Malaga, in Andalusia, southern Spain. It is a typically Andalusian white washed village located at a mountain side about 400 meter AMSL, Above Mean Sea Level, in the heart of the Costa del Sol region. There are some low-grade museums and many souvenir shops, Mijas also has 7 Golf courses.

The municipality includes Mijas Pueblo, Mijas Costa, La Cala de Mijas and Las Lagunas. The term above mean sea level refers to the elevation on the ground or altitude in the air of any object, relative to the average sea level. AMSL is used extensively in radio both in broadcasting and other telecommunications uses by engineers to determine the coverage area a station will be able to reach. It is also used in aviation, all heights are recorded and reported with respect to AMSL. When referring to geographic features such as mountains on a topographic map, variations in elevation are shown by contour lines. The elevation of a mountain denotes the highest point or summit and is typically illustrated as a small circle on a topo map with the AMSL height shown in either metres or feet or both.

Mijas can also be described as the best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. This is evident from the archaeological sites found throughout Mijas. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
