Don Benito




Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country.
 
Don Benito is a town in Badajoz province, situated in Extremadura of Spain on the left bank of the river, Guadiana. It is a thriving and a modern town in the trade of brandy, flour, oil, soap, linen and cloth. It has an active trade in wheat, wine and fruit, especially melons. The population of this region as per figures from the Spanish National Statistics Institute, INE as of the 1st of January, 2004 is registered at 1,075,286 people.
 
The town experiences very low rainfall and it mainly falls in spring and autumn and the summer is very dry. The western part tends to face more rainfall than the other regions, however the mountain areas the climate is characterized by cold winters and cool summers. Rainfall in these areas is quite heavy, and in the northern part of the region and at higher altitudes this is converted into snow.
 
Don Benito dates back from the 15th century, when it was founded by refugees from Don Llorente, who deserted their own town owing to the danger of floods from the Guadiana. A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Don Benito is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
