Rota
Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country. Rota is one of Spain's most popular destinations, and is well known for the quantity of cultural related attractions and monuments that the city has embraced. Archaeological evidence suggests a bronze age settlement on the present site, although the current town was founded by the Phoenicians at approximately the same time as Cadiz. Rota is assumed to be the Astaroth of the Tartesian empire. It later passed to the Romans, who knew the town as Speculum Rotae. Rota is a town of approximately 27,000 people in the Andalusia region of Spain, located in Cadiz province, across the Bay of Cadiz from the city of the same name. It is primarily a small resort town, which offered 8 hotels with 1948 beds a summer destination for tourists coming from all points in Europe. During the off-season, its main commercial activity centers on the fishing industry. Rota is also the location of a joint Spanish Naval base and United States Naval base, opened in 1955 which also hosts U.S. Marine and Air Force units. It is also the entrance point of U.S. Naval Vessels entering the Mediterranean Sea. Rota, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times.
