Elda
Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country. Elda is a city located in the province of Alicante, Spain. It has an area of 45.8 square kilometer and, according to the 2002 census, it has a total population of 55,571 inhabitants. It is the 7th most populous city in the province. Elda joins together with the town of Petrer to form a metropolitan area with over 85,000 inhabitants. The river Vinalopo flows through the urban area of Elda. The footwear of the people living there consists of garments worn on the feet. It is worn for a variety of reasons, including protection against the environment, hygiene and adornment. Usually, socks and other hosiery are worn under footwear. It is sometimes associated with fetishism, particularly in some recent fashions in shoes and boots. Some people are very passionate about fashion footwear. Elda is famous for its footwear industry, in particular for women's shoes. Tourist sites in this region include the Footwear Museum, the Archaeological Museum, the Torre del Homenaje del castillo a tower dating from the 12th century, Castelar Square, Count of Coloma Palace, the Town Hall and the church of Santa Ana. It also celebrates the important festival of Morosy Cristianos. Elda can also be described as the city of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. This is evident from the archaeological sites found throughout the city. A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Elda is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
