Granada
Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country. Granada is a city and the capital of the province of Granada, in the self-governing region of Andalusia, Spain. It is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, at the union of the rivers, Darro and Genil, at an elevation of 738 metres above sea level. At the 2005 census, the population of Granada was 236,982 and the population of the entire urban area was estimated to be 472,638. It ranked as the thirteenth largest urban area of the Spanish Kingdom. Around 3.3 percent of the population did not have Spanish citizenship, which is the largest number coming from South America. Granada is also famous in Spain because of its prestigious university and night-life. In 1920, Federico Garcia Lorca portrayed the granadinos as the worst bourgeoisie in Spain. In fact, it is said that it is one of the three best cities for college students. There are many significant Moorish and Catholic architectural sites in Granada like the Alhambra. It is one of the most impressive ornamental Baroque in Spain. It is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers. It is a city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages.
