Lloret de Mar




Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country.
 
Lloret de Mar is a coastal town in Catalonia on the Mediterranean primarily known as a tourist resort. It is adjacent to Blanes and Tossa de Mar and is 75 kilometers from Barcelona. With a population of 29.445 as of 2005 it is the second largest town in the Selva comarca county of Catalonia. It has a population density of approximately 130 inhabitants per kilometer squared.
 
During the summer tourist season, the number of people in Lloret both inhabitants and tourists often reaches 200,000. For decades it has attracted summer visitors, mainly from northern Europe and it is now the most important resort in the Costa Brava. There is a medieval fort on the outskirts of the town. Lloret was founded in 1001 After Death. Many consider a bronze statue overlooking the town to be Lloret's symbol. The sculpture shows a fisherman's wife Dona Marinera and it was made in 1966 by Ernest Maragall.
 
Lloret de Mar is the destination for the Old Stretfordians touring team in summer 2007, under the leadership of Lee Parkinson. Loret de Mar, a Girona province enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited places.
