Telde

Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country.

Telde is a municipality in the eastern province of Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria, part of the Canary Islands. It is the second most populated municipality on the island. The population is about 93,942 and the area is 102.43 square kilometer. The density is 917.13 per square kilometer and is expected to reach the 100,000 person mark in the mid 2000s. It is located on the province's main highway, which links with the capital and the superhighway, GC1, Gran Canaria other roads includes GC4 with mountain curves in the northeast and GC5 near Teide and another interchange in the east.

The Atlantic Ocean is to the east, farmlands cover the central and eastern area, and the rest of the land is very mountainous. The housing developments of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria were built in the 1960s and were expanded in the 1980s. This expansion resulted in a loss of agricultural land which was replaced by residential, industrial and commercial properties, including hotels and an airport, Gran Canaria International Airport. The airport is located in the subdivision of Gando, between Telde and the capital. Telde has schools, lyceums, gymnasia, churches, beaches, a post office, parks, and sporting grounds.

Telde is also said to be as one of the best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. This is evident from the archaeological sites found throughout the Telde. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and pursue enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
