Toledo
Spain, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country. Toledo is a city and is located in central Spain, about 70 kilometers south of Madrid. It is the capital of the province of Toledo and of the autonomous community of Castile Mancha. It was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1986, due to its extensive cultural and monumental heritage as one of the former capitals of the Spanish Empire and place of coexistence of Christian, Jewish and Moorish cultures. As of 2005, the city has a population of 75,578. As encountered by the Romans, the city called Toletum and was the capital of the Carpetani. It was incorporated into the Roman province of Hispania Tarraconensis. Its strategic location is along the Tagus River and on the road from Emerita to Caesaraugusta and connected also by another road with Laminium Toledo. Toledo was famed for its production of steel and especially of swords and the city is still a center for the manufacture of knives and other steel implements.
Toledo is also said to be as one of the best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. This is evident from the archaeological sites found throughout the Toledo. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and pursue enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
