Torremolinos
Spain
, also known as Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country which is located in Southern Europe, and politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest sovereign nation of the three nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with a high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital is Madrid which is also the largest city of the Country.
Torremolinos is a tourism-oriented city and municipality on the Costa del Sol of the Mediterranean, immediately to the west of the city of Malaga, in the province of Malaga in the autonomous region of Andalusia in southern Spain. Itspopulation in 2006 was 55,479 and density was 1,901 per square kilometer. It was the first of the Costa del Sol resorts to develop. It is very popular with British tourists and has a large British emigrant population. The town is dominated by high-rise development although it is considered ugly by some people.
Torremolinos had its glory days during the eighties and into the nineties, but particularly over the last five years there has been a visible shortening of the high season, and a change in the demographic structure of who visits this town. It persists to have a thriving indigenous gay population, which it continues to attract, it also attracts families, but the young fun-loving 18 to 30 age group crowd is being replaced by an older crowd of snowbirds pensioners travelling overseas, over winter for the sunshine.
Torremolinos enjoys a very good reputation amongst worldwide travelers and hence is one of the most visited places in Spain.
