Ubeda

Spain, officially the Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country that is located in Southern Europe, politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest of the three sovereign nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital and largest city is Madrid.

Ubeda is a town in the province of Jaen in Spain's self-governing community of Andalusia. It had about 36,000 inhabitants in 2003. It is best known for its association with the writer Antonio Munoz Molina and the singer Joaquin Sabina. Despite opposition from the International Council on Monuments and Sites, ICOMOS, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO declared its Renaissance monuments a World Heritage Site in a cultural unity with Baeza in the year 2003.

The city is near the geographic centre of the province of Jaen, and it is the administrative seat of the surrounding Loma de Ubeda region. It is one of the region's most important settlements, boasting university distance-learning facilities, local government facilities, a hospital, social security offices, courts, and many more. It has a population of 200,000 inhabitants. Twenty-nine percent of employment is in the service sector, with many people working in commerce and local government administration.

Ubeda enjoys a very good reputation amongst worldwide travelers and hence is one of the most visited places in Spain.
