Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital and largest city is Madrid. This community was the headquarters of the first experimental and enological field station in Spain and also housed the Regional Federation of Viticulturists, presided over by the Marques of Casa Trevino. The Viticulture Mercantile Circle was founded in the year 1928, and the Regional Viticulture Board established its headquarters in Valdepenas in the year 1930.
