Valencia
Spain, officially the Kingdom of Spain, is one of the oldest inhabited regions on the planet. It is a country that is located in Southern Europe, politically organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is the largest of the three sovereign nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, Spain is divided into 50 provinces, grouped into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities with high degree of autonomy. The name Spain comes from the Latin name Hispania whose capital and largest city is Madrid. Valencia is a medium-sized port city and the third largest city in Spain and industrial area on the Costa del Azahar in Spain. It is the capital of the Land of Valencia and the province of Valencia. The estimated population of the city of Valencia proper was 796,549 as of 2005 estimates. Population of the urban area was 1,012,000 as of 2000 and that of the metropolitan area was 1,623,724 as of 2005 estimates. This community has a Mediterranean climate, with warm dry summers and mild winters. The city was founded by the Romans in 137 BC on the site of a former Iberian town, by the river Turia and has been occupied by the Visigoths, Moors and the Aragonese. The two official languages spoken in the city are Valencian and Spanish. The local government assures it emphasizes the use of the local language. Valencia is famous for its vibrant nightlife. Nowadays, nightclubs and bars are concentrated in the Carmen and university areas. Valencia enjoys a very good reputation amongst worldwide travelers and hence is one of the most visited places in Spain.
