Crocodile Park: A Wide Range Zoo

Crocodile Park started in 1988 as a refuge for some lost crocodiles. Now it has turned into the largest crocodile refuge in Europe and a complete zoological recreational area. Crocodrile Park, in Villa de Aguimes, has more than three hundred crocodiles, an aquarium including Canarian and tropical fish, a spider refuge including the dreaded tarantulas and a parrot home.

The crocodiles are the main attraction in there, with a presentation of their expansion from eggs to the diverse species of crocodiles of different sizes. The species are selected from the Nile, Florida and a host of many other locations. Try to visit during eating times to observe the crocodiles act more agile and fast. As well, there are pygmy goats, camels, jaguars, tigers and even a chimpanzee section.

The Zoo works as an aid organization, receiving no resources from the government but relying totally on entry fees to supply and take care of the animals. All the animals have been saved from the town where they were used in shows for cash, some are not wanted anymore by the shows and some even began as pets. All have been inadequately treated, unsuccessfully fed; some have had their claws and teeth taken away by their earlier owners. But luckily, the animals are blessed sufficiently to have gathered themselves here where they are healthy cared and appreciated by the park custodians.
